Nissan Note Boat makes splash
Before you get carried away the the thought that Nissan has somehow turned out a new Note that can turn itself in to a boat, they haven’t. Instead, Nissan’s PR has decided to bolt the new Note to a floating platform to demonstrate the versatility and some of the technology of the new Note. Nissan went of to Eton Dornay Lake – scene of some of our remarkable rowing feats in the 2012 Olympics – with a modified Note with a sliding single stroke seat for a rower to allow the Note – with its wide opening doors – to accommodate an oar poking out of each side.
Top Gear Series 21 starts 2nd February
Last weekend we brought you the first trailer for series 21 of Top Gear, although it basically consisted of Jeremy Clarkson moaning about lorries whilst driving a VW up! At that time, the BBC were still being cagey about when the new series of Top Gear (although we did expect it to start on 2nd Feb), but now BBC Media have managed to add it to their official schedule details so it’s now officially confirmed to start on 2nd Feb. Now we get a new trailer for the new TG Series, and this one is much more typical with mayhem and nonsense abounding including 1980s hot hatches, lorry racing, supercars, quad bikes on water, tanks and, of course, the McLaren P1.
Chrysler has rolled out a facelift for the 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the usual cosmetic tweaks, better interior and new 8-speed auto ‘box. Jeep has worked hard to make the latest Grand Cherokee a much more appealing road car than before, with car-like on-road manners despite still having Land Rover levels of off-road ability. The only real criticisms we can level at the current Grand Cherokee (which, coincidently we have in for review this week) is some cheap trim on the inside, a blobby infotainment system and an old-school, five-speed auto ‘box that really has no place in a modern, premium SUV.
